Hello

I have been digging out an old well in our backyard which was built about 1840.
Currently, I have dug down 4.5 metres with no end in site.
I have a question regarding the build of the well.
The well is completely made of brick and it has been built in a spiral pattern.
Has anyone else come across a well made in this fashion ?

Regards
Graham

Hi Graham...
We don't dig many wells. The ones we have attempted where only about 3 1/2 foot around and deep! 30 feet plus. After digging down 15 feet we used the 12 foot probe and it never hit bottom.Digging a well is a big gamble because of all the work involved.I am not saying there couldn't be some thing good on the bottom,we just know there are a lot better odds digging privy's where people threw trash on a daily basis.
Do you have a pic of the well? I can tell you more about it if I saw it. Send a pic to my email. Thanks Rick
